Family Camp 2009 Speakers and Topics
Session #1 (19-26 June): Speakers - COL Don Snider, COL Al Shine
Topic - “Integrating Faith, Family and Profession”
Practical teachings from Eph 4:1-3 and Col 3:23 based on speakers' experience of walking with the Lord through a military career and beyond. The central theme woven throughout the week is that officers must fully integrate faith in Christ, their family lives and their professional lives. Dr. Snider is a long-time OCF leader, author and former NSC staffer and Brookings Institute fellow. He and his wife Caroline have two grown daughters and live in Carlisle, PA. COL Shine served a full career in the U.S. Army and then ten years as commandant of Culver Military Academy. He and Sandra also live in Carlisle, PA and have three grown children. These men bring a wealth of spiritual leadership experience in Officers' Christian Fellowship.

Session #2 (26 June - 3 July): Speaker - Dr. Gary Phillips
Topic - “Change: Digging Beneath the Tip of the Iceberg”
"Be renewed in the spirit of your mind" (Eph. 4:23). Sounds like it should be easy, but what does it actually mean? Often we speak about change, but what does real change look like? Paul answers that question in the next verses. Join us for a very practical verse by verse, phrase by phrase, word by word excavation of Ephesians 4:25-32, a passage where God lays out specific areas in which he expects us to be different after salvation than we were before. Dr. Gary is pastor of Signal Mountain Bible Church in Chattanooga. He taught for twenty-four years at Bryan College and served as Chairman of Biblical Studies. His degrees are from Vanderbilt University (B.A.), Dallas Theological Seminary (Th.M.), and Grace Theological Seminary (Th.D.). He has published articles and books and has served as an officer in both the Evangelical Theological Society and the Evangelical Philosophical Society. Gary and his wife, Betsy, have three grown children and live in Chattanooga, TN.

Session #5 (17-24 July): Speaker - Pastor Keith Peck
Topic - “Gospel Character: The Fruit of Grace”
For nearly 3,000 years, moral philosophy taught that character was the key to happiness and success. But in our modern world, character has been replaced by competence, brilliance, appearance and giftedness. Beginning with the classic New Testament text on the “fruit of the Spirit” (Galatians 5:16-26), we will study the character of Christ that God intends to recreate in the hearts of His children. This fruit of grace leads all of us into a critical battle within that is full of the rich hope of “being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory” (II Cor. 3:18). And as our lives reflect more of the glory of Christ’s likeness, so his glory will move into our world, changing lives, communities, neighborhoods, schools and workplaces. Keith and his wife, Gail, live in Annapolis, MD, where Keith serves as senior pastor of Broadneck Evangelical Presbyterian Church. They have five children and five grandchildren.
